The primary responsibility of the Reference Department is to provide
help in locating and using electronic, print, and other resources to find the
information you need. Reference assistance is available at the
Reference Desk on the second (main) floor of the library during most
library hours. Do not hesitate to seek reference assistance;
helping you find what you need is the best part of the job for those
working at the Reference Desk.

Behind the Reference Desk are the "ready reference"
books. These are books that tend to be used frequently and have quick
answers to questions. They include a dictionary, thesaurus, a
Bible, writing style manuals, almanacs, and other useful books.
Those wishing to use these books can have access to them by leaving a
proper ID card at the Reference Desk during the period of use.
Faculty wishing to arrange a library instruction session for a class may
call the Reference Desk at extension 1359. Individual instruction
is also available.
The creation of this website, including all the information contained
here, is also a service provided by the Reference Department. We
hope that the site will be useful in providing easy access to various
sources of information.
It is the desire of those providing reference service to not only assist
in finding needed information, but also to act as guides through the
gateway of knowledge. By teaching information literacy, it is our
hope that the library may play an important part in your process of
lifelong learning.
