Kevin Boyle

Kevin Boyle is a sculptor and potter who currently lives in Elkins. He creates stone carvings working directly in the stone. Chopping away and shaping each piece of stone to slowly reveal an image. This method relies a lot on faith, especially as the pile of chips and dust grows larger, the stone gets smaller, and no clear image is evident. But so far, something has always emerged from each piece. Carvings of fish, owls, frogs, and his most recent, an alabaster salamander are some of the pieces you will be able to see in this exhibit.
Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife/ Fisheries at Frostburg State University and a minor degree in Fine Arts in Frostburg , Maryland . His love of nature and his work as a wildlife biologist have provided him with an appreciation of the great variety of form and beauty found in the natural world. Kevin also teaches pottery at the Randolph County Community Arts Center in downtown Elkins.
